A new edition of Book 11 in Lois McMaster Bujold's multiple New York Times best-selling space opera series, The Vokosigan Saga, winner of five Hugo awards. Forced to abandon his undercover role as leader of the Dendarii Mercenaries, Miles Vorkosigan persuades Emperor Gregor to appoint him Imperial Auditor so he can penetrate Barrayars intelligence and security operations, AKA ImpSec. Simon Illyan, head of ImpSec and Miles former boss, is failing physically and mentally--which poses a threat to the Barrayaran Empire itself--and Miles sets out to find out who or what hidden force is behind Illyans rapid decline. xicanti @Centique I lived in Auckland for a year! I used to walk from my home in Parnell to Onehunga and back on a regular basis. 4y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk Oooooo depressing foreign films are my JAM. Any recs? I recently watched French/Israeli coproduction Synonyms and it was very good, very crazy, and very depressing. Also your 12 is well put. 4y
xicanti @TobeyTheScavengerMonk unfortunately, I haven‘t watched any stand-outs yet. I did think Nobody Knows I‘m Here, a Chilean film that hit Netflix recently, was well done, but I don‘t know if I‘d push it on anyone. My favourite recent view was probably The Half of It, an American teen movie about thwarted love and suchlike. 4y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk French animated amputation love story I Lost My Body is Netflixable and melancholy and wonderful. 4y
xicanti @TobeyTheScavengerMonk I‘ll add it to my list. 👍 4y
Centique @xicanti that‘s so cool. I hadn‘t thought about how short it is between harbours right there! Well done 👍💜 4y

This is on my #MountTBR and has been for quite a while. Mostly because I have to read previous books in the series before I can read this one. It won an award (the Hugo maybe?), I think, and I love this series and the author‘s writing. Definitely fun, with a bit of food for thought thrown in for spice.

Today's #SeptemBowie prompt left me with a luxury problem. Most books involve #changes in one way or another. In the end I picked a few all time favourites where change is one of the main themes, for the characters and for nations.

Cinfhen Well played! 💡💡💡 7y
