The untold story of the Jews who escaped the Nazis and returned with the U.S. Army to fight Hitler.
I first became the Ritchie boys on an episode of 60 Minutes. Fascinating story.
Just starting. I saw a story about these extraordinary men on 60 Minutes and wanted to read the book.
I have read several World War II memoirs, Camp survivor memoirs, and several World War II nonfiction. This piece provided an interesting view of soldiers fighting a personal war with the Nazis. I almost bailed but I am glad I stuck this one out. No matter how many pieces I read in WWII, I'm always surprised at the sheer horror of this time in history.
A book about true WW11 heroes seems like a perfect read in today's climate.@williammorrowbooks
Don't worry- I'm not reading while I'm driving. I'm waiting to pick up my daughters from cross country practice. I'm not minding the wait a bit. Just started this book - excellent narrative non-fiction about the Ritchie Boys of WWII
History buffs - SONS AND SOLDIERS by Bruce Henderson is a powerful and riveting tale of heroism in World War II. This book tells the story of the little-known saga of young German Jews who fled Nazi Germany in the 1930s, came of age in America, and returned to Europe as members of the U.S. Army to play a key role in the Allied victory. It goes on sale 7/25! #history #worldwarii
Happy Summer Solstice! Thanks so much @ness Three ARCs! Woo hoo! The soap smells amazing! The Bookworm sticker is going on my front door, so everyone knows who lives here. 😁😁I collect buttons, so this one is better than perfect. And these are the cutest page markers ever! Thanks again! #SummerSantaGoesPostal #SummerSolsticeBookExchange
I don't often read non fiction at the rate I read this book, but I hated so much to put it down. There is so much overlooked in history courses of our own history, and this book helped fill in at least a few of the gaps. A must read for sure.
Got some reading done at a wedding my husband officiated- the reception was mostly alcohol and two step, so I found a semi quiet table lol #nonfiction #ritchieboys
Reading Sons and Soldiers while the kids burn off the sugar rush (they asked to make s'mores- couldn't refuse lol) then for their bedtime story I am reading Ivy and the Lonely Raincloud by Katie Harnett- it's an ARC I got today, and they love reading these with me.
