I picked this up after it was mentioned in A Scatter of Light. It's very evocative and introspective. Rich meditates on her experience as a woman in society and the role of feminism. She also does a lot of self-reflection with musings on love and relationships. I can't pretend that I understood all of it because poetry is not my strong suit but I enjoyed reading a couple poems each day

Kitta Oh she‘s mentioned in the book I‘m reading now and it makes me want to pick up some of her poetry! 6mo
Kenyazero Nice! I haven‘t read any of her work yet, but it‘s on my list! I never feel like I get out of poetry what a lot of other readers do so I feel almost bad for reading it if I‘m not appreciating it on the same level 😶 6mo

National Poetry Month: Day 14! ❤📖

I may have never heard of Adrienne Rich and her fantastic poetry if I hadn't read Wild by Cheryl Strayed. In that book, she references this book of poetry by Rich often enough that I HAD to read her work! And I'm so glad so did, because it's all pretty amazing!

I‘m not a poetry type person but wanted to read this for my 52 books in 52 weeks which this one was for a book mentioned in another book. This one was mentioned in Wild by Cheryl Strayed. She took this book on the trail with her the whole time because it was her favorite book. For me, I‘m not at poetry person. I can hardly read poetry the way I‘m suppose to with all the pauses and breaks. If I knew how to I might like it better and understand.

TheAromaofBooks I'm not a big fan of poetry, either - I don't think it's for everyone!! 4y

An intimate collection of poetry that explores the feminine. A wonderful collection that hasn't lost its impact over time. 4⭐️

BiblioLitten I haven‘t read Adrienne Rich in the longest time. 🧡 5y

Currently in my reading rotation. Adrienne Rich was one of the first poets I began to read in highschool outside of school assignments after a friend's gifted me Diving into the Wreck. She's one of the reasons (the gifter as well as the poet) I read poetry to this day. It's good to be back.

Some lines were beautiful. I found chunks here and there that I understood and appreciated. Then there was the incomprehensible remainder. I felt like I was trying to view a beautiful painting in a pitch dark room with nothing but a small flashlight to help me; I‘d get glimpses of brushstrokes or colors that I would recognize or enjoy but could never see the whole picture. Apparently, I‘m just not “bright” enough to “get” these poems...

First week of class and I'm already up to my old tricks of doodling quotes instead of paying attention 😅 #gradlife

I just can‘t tell you how beautiful these poems are. I wanted to post photos of every page. I‘d read her criticism before but never her original writing, I‘m so glad Wild made me pick this up. I have to read more poetry by her. #poetry

Autumnlong This has been on my shelf for months! I‘m really looking forward to it. 7y
Emilymdxn @Autumnlong can‘t recommend it enough! Quite a quick read too! I‘m going to read a lot more by her 💖 7y

The National Poetry Library on the south bank is truly special - I‘m so glad there are places where anyone from anywhere in the world can drop in and have access to a copy of almost every poem ever available in English completely free. This is a beautiful place. I‘m glad the first poem I read here was as perfect as this one. #poetry

And the much less sentimental version of #poetry #riotgrams - these are 2 of the 3 poetry volumes I own. These are lovely, but the only poetry I am absolutely in love with though is what my brother used to write 💙

A well loved and well worn copy of Rich's The Dream of a Common Language. It's a raw book filled with tragedy and emotion. It's for anyone who wants to reflect on #feminism, being a women and life.

WHOA. My daughter's day school rabbi just sent his weekly update which included this quote that best described the school's focus on inclusivity. I am blown away.

My favorite Adrienne Rich collection. There's are poems from '74-77 and they are stunning. There's a complete collection of her work out (now? Soon?) so you can have all her glorious work in one book. Or get this one so you can carry it with you forever.
