Just finished "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward". Parts of it probably could have afforded to be cut down, and other parts could have been elaborated on. I'm a fan of not necessarily spelling everything out for your audience, but I'm not sure Lovecraft always knew when to give more or less information. #horror
I just finished "At the Mountains of Madness" the other day, and I enjoyed it more than most, if not all, of Lovecraft's stories so far. On the one hand, it reminded me pleasantly of some more modern science fiction, like The X-files. But it also seemed more nuanced than much of his other work. In the end, he left room for the Old Ones to be more than monsters; they were people. It's the first time he's seen humanity in the "other."
