A Tale of Two Kitties
A Tale of Two Kitties | Dav Pilkey
19 posts | 18 read | 1 reading | 2 to read
Dog Man, the newest hero from the creator of Captain Underpants, is still learning a few tricks of the trade. If only the Chief would throw him a bone every once and a while... Dog Man needs to dry up the drool, dust away the dander, and roll out of the refuse if he's going to impress the Chief, and he needs to do it fast! Petey the cat is out of the bag, and his criminal curiosity is taking the city by storm. Can the canine crime biter unleash justice on this ruffian in time to save the city, or will Petey get away with the purrfect crime?

When you catch your kid at 10:30 at night reading by the light of his night light instead of sleeping. (He didn‘t know I was even taking his picture)

Mom Sharon - “Buddy , put the book away and go to sleep , it‘s way past your bedtime!”

Book lover Sharon (thinking to herself) “ Yassss! that‘s definitely my child…read away kid, read away.”

Book lover Sharon and my kid both think Mom Sharon is boring and not fair 😂📚💤🛏

Ruthiella How sweet! 😃 2y

5✨ I love this series. It has more depth than just a kids comic book. This one has elements of Charles Dickens “Tale of Two Cities” and Million Dollar Man references. We have a new cloned character and an improvement to a previous villain.

MissYaremcio Great review Zach! Make sure that when you are doing this assignment, you include all the parts of it (you were missing the pacing and the recommendation). 5y

My 2nd graders are loving the Dog Man series, so I decided I should read it. It has been quicker to get them on Libby than the actual library as they are so popular right now.

cwarnier Funny story: One morning, one of my boys was reading a Dog Man book. I kept telling him to pay attention in class. I hated having to tell him to quite reading, as I would read all day if I could. In the afternoon we had free read/ work time and he didn't have anything to read because he had finished his book. 5y

Every time I meet a new kid at the library, they ask about Dog Man. Every time.

So I bought the library another set of the whole series and brought one home to try. It‘s delightful. Dog Man has a dog‘s head sewn on a policeman‘s body (backstory in the intro to this one) and he fights crime, including the two kitties in the title. Puns, visual jokes, & silly antics galore. At this point I think everything Dav Pilkey touches turns to gold. #kidlit

Blaire Yes, my almost 7 year old loves this series! And I enjoy it too, which is a nice bonus. (edited) 6y
ReadingRover Omg! I totally just assumed that dogman was a dog who was a police man. This is so much deeper!!! 6y

Funny graphic novel. Perfect for beginner and reluctant readers but not babyish. Many cvc and sight words. Dog man is part-dog part-cop and helps solve crime. This installment featured Petey the evil cat, his kitten clone (who turns out to be sweet) and a number of other entertaining characters. Good for ages 5-8. My son loved the pictures of kids reading to dogs at the back. It inspired him to read to cats and dogs at our local shelter.

MicrobeMom My 7 yo loves these books! He just been bought a new one at his school book fair today. 6y
Blaire @MicrobeMom yes my son is 6.5 and loves them too. Def on the Chanukah gift list. 6y

Started a new reas with my daughter last night. She loves these books.
#readwithyourkids #littlereader #booklovers

wtimblin My son loves those too. We can head him giggling to himself under the covers way after lights out of an evening. Can't tell him off for illicit reading really! 6y
BookishMadHatter @wtimblin I know exactly what you mean. I see so many kids who aren't interested in reading at all, and I love that she really enjoys it. Hard to say no to reading when you think of the crap they could be watching on YouTube or something 6y
wtimblin Preach! I agree 110% with this statement 6y

britt_brooke @mrsmarch Lol, you‘re right .... he actually got his yesterday. Tonight, we took big bro. 7y
mrsmarch @britt_brooke Divide and conquer, hurrah! 7y
britt_brooke @mrsmarch Exactly, haha! I usually schedule them at the same time but this cute little place they go to was pretty booked up. Two separate days actually worked really well, it turns out. 7y
mrsmarch @britt_brooke The place I take my four year old for “big” cuts doesn‘t take appointments so I usually just lug her down on a Sunday morning while everyone else is at church...mostly we just cut bangs in the bathtub. Cheap mama! 7y
britt_brooke @mrsmarch Lol, love it! 7y
britt_brooke @batsy It is! 💚💚💚 7y

Book fair prep! Seriously, this is one of my favorite events at school! We do 3 fairs a year but the first is always the most exciting!
Would you be interested in me posting books we've got in at the fair? Everyone needs wish lists for the holidays, right? #holidayshopping #bookfairs #Scholastic #elementary #kidlit #raisingreaders #picturebooks

I did something incredibly stupid. I pulled a mussel in my neck. Even holding my head up hurts. I'm trying to make it through the work day because we are very slow right now. The easiest thing to use right now is my iPad, so I think I'm going to share some #coverlove #kidsedition (and middle grade too).

First up. Dog Man 3. I love this series.

cobwebmoth Ouch! Hope it feels better soon! 7y
Bookzombie I hope you feel better soon! 7y
Smangela I loved Captain Underpants as a kid! I'll have to keep an eye out for these; feel better! 7y
LibrarianRyan @Smangela you will love these. Quick reads as they are all graphic novels. And the idea is that they are the graphic novels written by the kids in CU. 7y
