It is a time of great darkness, when the sun is in danger of being forever extinguished, and mankind has been divided into two warring factions: the worshipers of the God of Light and the servants of Eternal Night. Now three unsuspecting travelers are called by prophecy to face a legion of the undead and the powers of the Dark Lord in the faint hope of reclaiming the world for the light.

The premise for this book is that being an undead is part of a religion. Because it has been prophesised that the world will end when the sun dies, some choose to workshop the Light, other the Night. Those who follow the Night choose to be place in a #coffin before they die and #sleep until the Night will fall. But something goes wrong. They wake early and become undead hungry for human flash

Although this is a aging, since it's a story from the mid-1990s, The Lightbringer Trilogy is still one of the best fantasy series l've read. It's a classic epic story of light against shadow, with plenty of Tolkien references but also very original elements mixed in (the religion sistem being one of them)
The tagged book, first in the series, takes place in just one night
