Stickman Odyssey, Book 1
Stickman Odyssey, Book 1: An Epic Doodle | Christopher Ford
7 posts | 5 read | 4 to read
When Zozimos is banished by an evil witch (his stepmother!) from the kingdom of Sticatha-the kingdom he was next in line to rule-he trains at battle (if you call chasing after butterflies training), travels across stormy seas (thanks for that, Poseidon), slays golems and monsters (with a lot of help), charms beautiful women (not really), and somehow (despite his own ineptitude) survives quest after quest. By the love of Zeus, though, none of it brings him any closer to home! It does, however, make for one quirky, original, giggle-provoking graphic novel sure to appeal to any kid interested in Greek mythology, or merely looking for an entertaining read.

My kids are the graphic novel readers in my house. This is a #classicgraphicnovel with potty humour. My son enjoyed it when he was younger.

Fans of The Odyssey or other epic tales will recognize some familiar gods and monsters. When Zozimos is banished from Sticatha, he sets out on a hero's quest to find his way home. I giggled all the way through this book, and it is already very popular with my middle school students. One of my favorite lines is representative of the humor you'll find:

"I'm so hungry, I'm farting fresh air."

Reread for Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon.

My TBR pile for the weekend. I'll start with Stickman Odyssey because it looks funny and won't require my full wakefulness (since the start time for my area is 5 AM). #readathon #deweys24hourreadathon
