I loved this story that crosses back and forth between Paris and Japan. The writing is ethereally beautiful and I became transfixed by the doomed characters.

It's all a little unexpected for a crime novel, French Police Inspector and Japanese Law Professor tell each other their life stories, and try and work out their regrets.

Twisted and thrilling. This book at time feels like a Japanese novel, at other times an European crime novel... Far from the Australian novel I expected.
