When I started my X-Men project, I decided not to count it on my official reading list. A lot of the earlier issues haven't been accessibly collected and I got bored out of my skull at the thought of figuring out which issue went in which trade.

Plus I didn't want to rate any of it.

Now I'm gonna TRY to figure out those trade divisions, starting with the easy stuff. I probably read around 800 books, so this'll be a loooong catalogue.

All 21 X-FACTOR collections are currently on sale at comiXology, and it looks like Amazon's got them priced the same or lower for Kindle, too!

Or, if you don't necessarily want to OWN the series, the whole thing is on Marvel Unlimited and you could probably finish it in a month. It's usually $9.99, but they seem to offer free or discounted first months on a regular basis.

(I just really really want people to read X-FACTOR. It's my favourite!)

dastevensish Sorry to be a pill, but could you give me some advice on what order to read them? I have Marvel Unlimited, but X-Factor is completely new to me. Actually most of Marvel is still new to me, and thus far have just jumped around. Should I read more X-Men stuff first? I am sorry to be a pain, and please feel free to ignore my questions. I wouldn't be hurt, promise. 😊 8y
xicanti @dastevensish friend, I'm ALWAYS happy to answer X-Men questions! X-FACTOR is mostly self-contained, but I do recommend reading MADROX, a miniseries, first as it acts as a prequel. Otherwise, you'll learn enough about everyone's backstories right in the series itself. Speaking of which, make sure you start the 2005 series. The earlier one is a lot more continuity-heavy and dependant on the rest of the X-books. 8y
dastevensish Awesome! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! 8y

xicanti @dastevensish if you eventually want to backtrack & learn more about people, though, Madrox and Guido feature heavily later in the earlier X-FACTOR; Wolfsbane & Rictor come from NEW MUTANTS and older X-FACTOR; I think Siryn's mainly in X-FORCE, as is Shatterstar; Longshot has an 80s miniseries and was with the X-Men for a while; Darwin's from DEADLY GENESIS; Layla's from CIVIL WAR; and Monet's from GENERATION X. 8y
dastevensish Am totally screenshotting this for easy referral later. 😊 8y
xicanti @dastevensish I sometimes get carried away when I tell people stuff about the X-Men. 🤗 8y

I've read 2000+ X-Men issues across dozens of series, and X-FACTOR is my absolute fave. It's solid all the way through--something few longer series achieve--and it's mostly self-contained. You can ignore every other X-book and still have an awesome time with it.

The elevator pitch: a diverse bunch of B-list X-Men run a detective agency. It's noir but hilarious but heartbreaking, with real consequences for every choice. I love it deep in my soul.
