I really enjoy Parr‘s use of colorful illustrations. In this book, he describes different kinds of families, with the message that a family is a group you care about. I had thoughts of those who feel like they have no family - those living in horrid, difficult situations - so this narrative is rosy colored. However, I think it still demonstrates family type differences well.

Awwww. Look, this is too generalized, of course. Not all families hug each other or celebrate together. But the message comes across. Families don‘t have to all look one way in order to be a family. It is a great message for an audience of young children.

1. Violet likes to leave her tongue out.
2. #LitsyFam I have met so many great people in such a great community. This is one of the few communities online that I really connect with and feel like I can be me. I'm so glad to have met @MinDea @TricksyTails @TK421 and everyone else I've been able to share my love of Patrick Rothfuss books with. There are so many more people I enjoy, too many to name. I adore you all.
