Just testing the new servers! #onwardLitsy
A bit too unfocused on the story side for my liking. I did admire the author paying tribute to one of his favourite authors by writing in his style.
#TBRtemptation post 6! Released in March. A homage to Robert Louis Stevenson. Considered excellent for all "Treasure Island"
fans. The author when young lived in San Francisco, waiting for his beloved to divorce her husband for him. Soon thereafter, they moved to Scotland, writing his many classics. Doyle braids Stevenson's untold life with seaman John Carson, gathering material on the infant San Francisco's streets. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook ?
Very enjoyable adventure tale that is told through a series of stories set across the world. While there is a overarching set of characters and plot, the narrative arc jumps back and forth through time with many storylines. I had a great time reading this RLS fanfic:)
Very sad to hear that Brian Doyle has died. He is the author of the book I just started. It's early to tell much about it yet, but I am optimistic as I loved "The Plover" which he wrote a few years ago. ?So sad we have lost his voice.
It's a mix of love letter and 1001 Nights in account of Robert Stevenson's short period of live in San-Francisco. The writing style is very Stevenson's with poetic and slow prose vibes. But the plot was flat and what was supposed to be Sinbad Tale of Seven seas was ruined by boring personal letters and unlimited interruptions for dinner. There are several sketches in the book, but NO maps (in some review I read that the book full of maps👿liar 🤥)
I brought the adventures book to my own adventure 💃🏼🎊🏝
I heard about this new book by Brian Doyle on the All the Books podcast. I love Brian Doyle! @Liberty you MUST read The Plover--it seems like such a Liberty kind of book!
New Brian Doyle! 🎉🎉🎉
