A couple of weeks back, I won this gorgeous book from Crooked Lane Books, an independent publisher of mystery, suspense, and crime fiction based out of NYC.

They don't have a litsy account but go check them out on Instagram!

I'm super excited to dig into this, but in the meantime, look at how pretty it is! (And now I'm craving doughnuts again. 😂)

I thought the set-up on this book was a little far-fetched but a quick search revealed that wife sales were indeed a thing in #Regency #England. #LearnSomethingNewEveryDay

The tone was a little too serious/angsty for me, but the protagonist's extended family promises some interesting future books and the history is intriguing.

Favorite character: protagonist's mathematician sister.

You know you're a bookworm when you make a special trip to the library at 8:30 pm to pick up your library hold that just came in.

This is a historical mystery set in the Regency.

I really wanted to like this book, a mashup of a mystery and a Regency romance. Unfortunately it was just too light in both regards. The author has a good idea, but the characters seem stock and the situations unbelievable.
