Gone Girl meets Seed a heart-racing YA thriller set in a cult that makes you question everything you thought you knew . . . Esther is one of the four Special Ones. They are chosen by him to live under his protection in a remote farmhouse, and they must always be ready to broadcast their lives to eager followers in the outside. But on renewal day when he decides that a new Esther, Harry, Lucille or Felicity must take their place, the old ones disappear forever. The new ones dont always want to come, but soon they realise. Until one day Esther has a realisation of her own and it changes everything. Perfect for fans of Melinda Salisbury, Lisa Heathfield and Sophie Mckenzie. Em Bailey is an Australian writer living in Germany with her partner and daughter. Em used to be a new-media designer for a childrens television production house and is now a full-time author. The Special Ones is her second, much-anticipated novel for young adults. Her first novel, Shift, won the teens' choice Gold Inky Award in Australia and was shortlisted for a number of other awards.

This one just wasn‘t for me lol. I read the first half, but then the second half just.... I skimmed it but didn‘t really care enough to attentively finish.

Tamra Yes, indeed. I have to put my finished books away in the basement bc our house is too small, but there have been a few I can‘t banish. 7y

Another find from #yallfest. This book about a cult with an unknown man overlooking it all was creepy in the best way. Each twist was a surprise. I am using it for #5book5bingo as a book I own but never read (since I got it back in November).

Weekend pickings...all new from our school library. Murder, cults, and something to do with leprosy. Perfect for the weekend before Halloween. I've also got Hex to finish. Haven't done much reading today, since my angry neck preferred binge-watching Stranger Things. Now that it's settling down I'm digging back in to The Special Ones for bedtime reading.

At times I have not wanted to read this at night. It's not scary, but creepy (like someone could be watching...). I have zoomed through it though!
