Plot wise this is one of the best in the series so far. An elaborate conspiracy involving a cult, the crime impacts not just Kay‘s office, but nearby jurisdictions and has possible global implications. Since @OutsmartYourShelf brought it up in their review I‘m going to go off in the comments about how up Lucy‘s ass Kay is. But it was certainly a fun, quicker read than the Gault trilogy 💯
I‘m on chapter 1, the set up is pretty good so far, this exchange is so weird, did Cornwell forget Scarpetta‘s government car was a hearse? in multiple other books she drove a hearse 😂
This isn't the usual style of plot for Cornwell & it's not as page-turning or as tightly plotted as the previous books, but the main problem is Scarpetta herself.
First of all she really needs to back off when it comes to niece Lucy - Lucy is no longer ten years old, she's an FBI agent & Scarpetta needs to let her do her job. Secondly, Benton literally cannot do right for doing wrong for her. Scarpetta needs to take a holiday & chill. 3.5🌟
6-2020 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (re-read)
My least favourite story line so far.
Book 7 in the Kay Scarpetta series and I really enjoyed this one. I do find her to be abit much with her niece but it didn't spoil the book. I was more gripped with this one unlike the last book in the series. Look forward to number 8.

Another win with this series! I love how suspenseful these books are - I'm tense while reading at points just wondering what can possibly happen next. I would definitely recommend!
You guys. I have to be honest. I've picked up a new guilty pleasure and it's the Kay Scarpetta series. I can't stop reading them. Luckily, they're the series of choice in many of the Estate Sales I do, so I always seem to pick up the next one in the series in a timely manner. I'm not the only one, right?
