Set on a Louisiana sugarcane plantation in the 1970s, A GATHERING OF OLD MEN is a powerful depiction of racial tensions arising over the death of a Cajun farmer at the hands of a black man. When a sheriff is summoned to a sugarcane plantation, he finds one white woman, about eighteen old black men and one dead Cajun farmer. Despite threats and physical persuasion, each man claims guilt and promises to provoke a riot at the courthouse if the sheriff tries to make an arrest. While they wait for the lynch mob, everyone involved is surprised by something, and the old black men have their first taste about power and pride.

All good 💓 Your comment reminded me of an interesting comment from one of the doggie daycare providers, “Copper looks like a Civil War General” - I am still trying to figure that out 🤣 old souls, expressive eyes, Griffs are special, all dogs are special 🤩 2y
