Welcome to Litsy!

This book is a tricky one for me to rate, so I'm going with so-so. It's very quirky and imaginative, which I loved, but the plot felt a bit all over the place at times and I didn't really feel much of a connection to the characters until near the very end. I'm curious enough to read the rest of this trilogy, but I didn't love it as much as I thought I would.

I haven't been feeling well off and on the last couple days, so I've decided to take the time to rest and picked out a stack of books to enjoy while I do 📚

My reading for the next week! 📚 I'll be reading some in Wuthering Heights as well, but in small doses because wow, the characters are all pieces of work 🤣

Can you tell when a book is bail-worthy after 10 pages? I'm thinking with this one, I can. 🤔

I made it to the abandoned golf course for the first time this year! I‘ve been anxious as all hell today, so I desperately needed some exercise in a nice, green place. #audiowalk

Here‘re some nice clouds to represent my morning #audiorun, even though I did it inside yet again.

This audio is... odd. I loved the hell out of the book in print, but this narrator and I hear very different qualities in Wilce‘s prose. She pronounces things weirdly, too. Adept becomes adapt with the stress on the first syllable, and glamour isn‘t gla-mer but GLA MORE, heavily stressed like it‘s two separate words. It takes me out of the story.

I finished #audiopainting, and OF COURSE the books were the first thing to go back in my closet. I ditched a lot of the oversized design books I used to have up there in favour of just my near-complete YBF&H collection (Vol 14 eludes me), a treasured anthology from my childhood, and a Harold Bloom poetry anthology I had a lot of fun arguing with a few years back and should probably page through again.

Warm Brussels sprout salad with bacon, tomato, and balsamic dressing: take two. It came out much less grey this time, and it was every bit as delicious as my first attempt. Once again, I ate the whole half pound of sprouts. #audiocooking
