A Morning for Flamingos
A Morning for Flamingos | James Lee Burke
6 posts | 11 read
Clutching the shards, of his shattered life, Cajun detective Dave Robicheaux has rejoined the New lberia police force. His partner is dead--slain during a condemned prisoner's bloody flight to freedom that left Robicheaux critically wounded and reawakened the ghost of his haunted, violent past. Following the trail of the escaped convicts, Robicheaux is soon drawn back to New Orleans. But this time, the stakes are even higher. He's working for the DEA undercover in an attempt to incriminate Tony Cardo, a clinically insane drug lord. But all Robicheaux's really got is revenge on the mind. And he'll only be satisfied when the killers who upended his life have been brought to justice.

IamIamIam @DGRachel Oh, then put this in your pocket for later. I'm pretty experienced with amugurumi but they threw a chart in the middle of the pattern and I freaked out! Lol, I needed my husband to help me figure it out!!!! 😂 7y

My #LitsyPartyofOne was interrupted by the arrival of this little guy. He‘s so cute that I decided he needed to be an indoor decoration as I don‘t think his costume will hold up well to the elements. Plus, he makes me smile every time I glance towards the fireplace. 😊🦃

Tamra How comically cute! 7y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Did you send me your birthday?! I can‘t find it if you did!! 😜 7y

Tamra @DGRachel where r u now? 7y
DGRachel @Tamra I‘m in Charlotte NC, but I grew up in Casselberry, FL, just outside Orlando, and was there for 22 years. 7y
Tamra @DGRachel enjoy the change of seasons. Not as dramatic as here in the north, but it could still be fun for you! 7y
DGRachel @Tamra I‘ve been in NC for 12 years now, but I‘ll always be a Floridian at heart. I‘ve lived all over NC, from Raleigh to Boone and now Charlotte. I love Fall here, but I hate snow. I hate it snow and ice so much. 😂😂 7y
Tamra @DGRachel 😱 You are definitely warm weather gal!! 7y

James lee Burke is a cracking writer who really immerses the reader in the deep south. His descriptive skills are great and plotting and characters well drawn. I've now added beignets, coffee and poor boy sandwiches to my bucket list of food to try. By the way do any crime fans think jack reacher owes a lot to dave robicheaux or is it just me!

saresmoore I'm not usually a fan of crime fiction, but this sure is tempting! 8y
andrew61 @saresmoore it's my comfort reading staple although i seem to heading to more literary fiction at mo after joining litsy and scrolling through all the threads. The series definitely sells the landscape and cuisine of the area well. 8y

Im currently in New orleans with James lee Burke's troubled hero dave robicheaux book 4.

Bambolina_81 This is a great atmospheric series 😊 8y
andrew61 @Bambolina_81 yes its particularly unusual that you notice his great writing as well as the plot. The description of food also makes me want to hop on a plane to taste the cuisine. 8y
Bambolina_81 @andrew61 The smells and the heat too...he really nails it in my opinion. 8y

saresmoore I haven't read this, but I can attest that New Orleans really is as special and mysterious as it sounds in description. Not to mention the smell and taste of hot beignets and coffee in the morning. Ahhhhh. 8y
andrew61 @saresmoore very jealous - will add it to places wife and i plan to visit when all children are independent. 8y
saresmoore My husband and I have this list, too! T-minus 12 years and counting. 😬 8y
