Mehso-so

The last book in the Harper Hall series, this was…odd. The focus/POV shifts from Menolly to Piemur, which is fine, if a bit strange for a final book in a trilogy. I like Piemur, and I liked the possibilities his POV set up—the adjustments he deals with after his voice changes, the intrigues hinted at outside the Harper Hall—but there was too much hinted at and not enough developed here, including the ending.⤵️

BarbaraJean (Cont‘d) I‘ve heard that more context is fleshed out in the other Pern books, but I felt its absence here. I understand this is a side series, and I probably should have started with the main books first, but I didn‘t have that issue with the first two Harper Hall books, so this one was a little disappointing all around. Also: that scene on the boat felt super awkward—not explicit, but an odd, possibly problematic scenario to have in a kids‘ book! 3y

FINALLY!!! After going to over 10 different used book stores and going back to repeat places in hopes of finding this particular cover of Dragondrums I finally have it! Dimplebooks had it. I am so freaking stoked to have this. I have been hunting for the particular cover because I fell in love with the man on the cover in jrhigh Haha, he is what made me read the Harper Hall Trilogy by McCaffrey. I now have the complete matching covers set!

#augustofpages #augustphotochallenge #day18 #usedbooks This is just a small stack of my 2ndhand books. There used to be awesome 2ndhand stores in Windsor & Blacktown, which are gone now. There's still a stall at Parklea Markets which has been there forever & some good ones in the Blue Mountains. Otherwise it's the city, for places like Sappho Books & Cafe,or Elizabeth's Bookshop in Newtown. I love old books, the smell, the feel of the yellowing paper.
