4 posts | 9 read | 2 to read
Newbery Honor author Kirby Larson brings us the first new Dear America diary in years, taking readers through the attack on Pearl Harbor, the start of World War II, and the Japanese incarceration. With this sweeping tale of life on the World War II homefront, Newbery Honor author Kirby Larson brings her incredible talent to the Dear America series. When Pearl Harbor is attacked, America is finally unable to ignore the wars raging in Europe and Asia any longer. And one girl's entire life is about to change when everything she knows is turned on its head. After the devastating attack on Pearl Harbor, where her brother, a navy sailor, is stationed, Piper Davis begins chronicling her compelling journey through one of history's most tragic and unforgettable eras.

Another book from the Dear America series and I enjoyed the book so much!!! This book takes place in 1941 right when the United States enters into World War II. The characters were great!!! I rated the book a 4 out of 5 stars.

Well I finished first. Allison wanted to procrastinate and read other books instead of reading along with me. Damn kids!

I‘m looking forward to trying the recipe for WW2 Oatmeal Molasses Cookies thats in the back of the book. The Historical Note is always my favorite part of these novels.

KateFulfordAuthor So check in with the recipe review, won‘t you?! 6y

I was going to read the 3rd book in the Chintz n‘ China series but then my daughter comes into my room asking if I have a copy of this book. I told her I did and decided to do a buddy read with her! I‘m so glad she has finally developed a love of reading!! 😊💜
