29 posts | 12 read | 1 to read
Two adorably floppy dogs confront unexpected change in this endearing picture book with audio from two-time Caldecott Honor medalist Marla Frazee. Boot and Shoe were born into the same litter, and now they live in the same house. They eat out of the same bowl, pee on the same tree, and sleep in the same bed. But they spend their days apartBoot on the back porch because hes a back porch kind of dog, and Shoe on the front porch because hes a front porch kind of dog. This is exactly perfect for them. But then a crazy neighborhood squirrel arrivesand everything goes topsy-turvy! Caldecott Honor medalist Marla Frazee brings her signature wit, tenderness, and hilarious illustrations to this tale of an irresistible puppy pair. Includes audio!

Published in 2012, the tale of two inseparable pals is a cute read! I like the illustrations of the book, but I definitely thought the two dogs were cats at first!

I would use this book in my classroom to teach companionship/ friendship. I think it is appropriate for any age.

Book & Shoe written by Marla Frazee. This book is about two cats who were born in the same liter and now live in the same house who do everything together until a squirrel came and mixed them up. This book is appropriate for all ages, the illustrations went with the writing and it enhanced the verbiage used like when Boot & Shoe were running after the squirrel.

This story doesn‘t necessarily have a lesson to learn but it based on friendship and the love for one another. The two find their way back to one another no matter what.

This book was written by the two time Caldecott Honor medalist, Marla Frazee. It was published by Beach Lane Books in 2012. This adorable story is about two dogs who are dependent one another and do everything together. One day they lose track of each other and each dog waits in the other‘s spots for hours for each one to return. It is a story about friendship and love.

I love the message of true friendship and loyalty throughout the book. The reunion at the end of the picture book will truly make you feel something special.

This book was a very, very enjoyable read. I love the simplicity of the pictures and how it allows the reader to track the dogs emotions towards one another. The theme of friendship and true bonds with one another comes out strongly throughout the entirety of the picture book. This would be a great book to read if a classroom is talking about loyalty.

”So boot and shoe chased that squirrel all over the place. They chased it and chased it until it got bored and walked away.”

I think this book would be PERFECT for kids to read about being away from friends/siblings and reuniting. Or it could show the bond between friends/siblings.

I liked the overall theme of this book! It promotes strong friendship/and sibling bonds. The two dogs spend all their time together and then lose each other trying to find one another. They reunite, and sleep alongside one another, happy to have found each other again.

#MusicalNewYear Day 27: Boot & Shoe are good friends who live together in a big house & they do most things together. While they enjoy each other‘s company, they also enjoy and respect each other‘s solitude, with Boot preferring the back porch, and Shoe being a “front porch kind of dog.” It is this little detail which added a certain nuance to the narrative. But #AtTheEndOfTheDay, they got each other‘s backs. My review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-iEO

4⭐️ Two brothers who are thick as thieves get separated from each other, when a mischievous squirrel decides to run them all over the yard. But thy will be steadfast, and await the return of the other. Only one things can bring these twins together. The use of the same tree. A fun and heartfelt story.

Returning about 75 books to the library, including the wonderfully sweet BOOT & SHOE, about dog siblings who briefly lose each other. Unabridged Toddler and I both love this one.
