Very enjoyable!!! I never realized the fusion of the #Philippines (caused by colonialism and trade)- native, Spanish, Mexican, Chinese, and American. I love reading cookbooks that include family memories of food. Fun!! #ReadingAsia2021 @BarbaraBB @Librarybelle #ReadHarder2021 #foodmemoirbyAOC

Librarybelle I enjoy cookbooks like that too! 3y

Merry Christmas, beautiful people of Litsy! In the Philippines, nothing says "Christmas" quite like a lechon de leche (roasted suckling pig) as the centerpiece for the meal, and this beauty was consumed down to its bones by my family. I had first dibs on the cheek meat and skin ;D.

For the curious (in the US, anyway): there is a place in New Jersey that makes these. It was featured in an episode of Bizarre Foods America.

Reviewsbylola Merry Christmas! 8y

kammartinez @RanaElizabeth It is absolutely delish XD. I can only stand to eat it once a year (because really, that much pork is just slow death by gluttony XD), but it's so good! (edited) 8y
Marchpane Merry Christmas! Enjoy the feast 🎄 8y
BooksForEmpathy Our family friend's do this almost every year at their "Pig Party" and it's so delicious. That skin though... My mouth is watering!! 8y
