A very enjoyable book. The fact that there was a book within a book was very effective, and the characterisation was rather good. I had always known that unmarried pregnant women and gay men had suffered throughout history, but in this century it is easy to take this change for granted, and not realise the extent of their suffering. I really recommend this book.
The company of a good book and hot chocolate is better than the company of most people :)
This book seems very unusual. I've already got stuck into it within the first few pages...
And the mysteries I've been wanting to read... Haven't read any Barbara Vine / Ruth Rendell before, and I've been hearing a lot about Ann Cleeves and Minette Walters #bookhaul
