Seven books that left a deep impression on me and changed me.

The first few pages I wasn't sure I would finish it (I downloaded the free ebook), because Else seemed like a very shallow person. Then I was sucked in and got into a rage. I was angry with her family, a certain man, and the women judging her (I was also afraid the male author might pull a 'stupid hysterical women' twist). The novella, written in 1924, feels very modern in its subject. I'm glad I read it (thanks @JazzFeathers for your review!).

I was hesitant to read Expressionistic literature. I was expecting something very strange, possibly hard to follow. But for my 1920s writing project l need these era reads, so l went for it.

It is very strange, but it's also amazing. It's like being right there with Else, not with her, it's like BEING her. And there's a plot and it's gripping.
Loved it. Just loved it.

I wasn't sure what to expect from my first read of an expressionist author. Something strange for sure. Probably something too strange to follow.

Well, this is a strange story for sure, but l could follow perfectly and l loved it.
I've never seen such kind of storytelling. It goes behind the first- person narration. It's like being inside Else's head. Everything is filrered through her, there is no objective action.

I had a good book shop with the best friend and this one was just too pretty to leave behind. Has anyone read it? It sounds amazing!
