Hansel & Gretel
Hansel & Gretel | Holly Hobbie, Douglas Hobbie
3 posts | 3 read
Holly Hobbie brings to life a favorite spooky tale from childhood. When a woodcutter and his scheming wife abandon Hansel and Gretel in the forest, all hope is lost until they come upon a cottage made of tasty sweets. But the owner is not the kindly old woman she pretends to be. Can Gretel save Hansel from the clutches of a hungry witch? Holly Hobbie's masterful watercolors reach new heights in this spine-tingling rendition of the tale, faithful to the beloved classic.

Like many of the books I have read for the #FairyTaleReadingChallenge , this one is a bit dark, but Holly Hobbie's beautiful illustrations tend to soften the darkness. And I loved Gretel's ingenuity! A quick and enjoyable read, that I would not hesitate to share with my grandchildren. Thanks, @Charityann for hosting this fun challenge!

This is one of my all time favorite TL books. Hansel and Gretel by Holly Hobbie is a great RT for children? This book is full of amazing illustration and just an all around good book about two children taken into the woods and left. As they try to find their way home the come upon a cottage in the woods made of candy. The witch inside locks them in a cage and wants to fatten them up to cook them in her oven. #UCFLAE3414F19

AleciaM This amazing book is fun for all ages in a RT. ESOL 32 Use student pairs for team learning, especially for reports, experiments and projects. UDL 4.2 Optimize access to tolls and assistive technologies.

Erinehart One of my favorite TL books! Love your ESOL strategy as well, I think that is a great idea. 5y
DrSpalding Your passion for this book truly shines through in this post. Traditional literature is so important for our elementary age students and I hope you will use it often. This would be an amazing readers theater along with a read aloud. You could literally have a traditional literature unit and share all of the wonderful stories with the students! Just imagine how many standards you could meet doing this. 5y
