pickThis was a great middle grade novel! I really empathized with both Bronze and Sunflower. The novel uses the Cultural Revolution in China as its' backdrop, but doesn't really get into the details. I'm very interested to read some nonfiction history about it.
Completely stumbled across this at the bookshop today. It was facing out on the shelf and the cover art drew me in. Then I saw it was translated from Mandarin--this is now part of our permanent collection. I'm excited to explore Bronze and Sunflower's adventure with my daughter. Who knows where I can get a copy in Mandarin?

pickOne million thumbs up. They had better translate and publish the sequel because I must know what happens next. This reads like a Chinese little house on the prairie- including locusts eating the crops. I know this is going to win awards. Go get it while it's still on Netgalley.
