Bill Granger cookbooks are the best. His food is very tasty and easy to make. Moving from Australia (a country with an amazing food culture) to The Netherlands (food=fuel) was difficult. 10 years ago I couldn't find many of the ingredients I needed, luckily that has changed. It was also hard translating the ingredients. I once ruined a cake because I couldn't find caster sugar. Dutch translation: BASTERD SUIKER #cookbooklove #photoadaynov16
haanim That's so funny! 8y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag That's brilliant 😂 I'd be giggling any time a recipe called for caster sugar 8y
Wilkie @thegirlwiththelibrarybag it is great, I love shouting 'bastard!' In the supermarket. My other favourite is saying 'Nee, hoor' ( basically a strong no) to people I don't like. Hoor is pronounced 'whore'. I am a terrible person..... 8y

saresmoore What a great story! I've always been fascinated by the Australian food story: slow food, varied ingredients, even aboriginal and medicinal influences. I will check these out! 8y
Wilkie @saresmoore the food in Australia is amazing. I was at a little cafe in a small country town and a couple came in and told the owner that they were vegan and gluten free. The chef managed to adapt 5 out of the 10 meals on the menu. If that happened in NL they would laugh at you and give you a carrot. 8y
