As someone who doesn‘t read romance, I picked this up because I‘ve read some darker stuff from Lucy foley, but this was the sweetest book I‘ve read in a long time

Finished 2024 with 55 books read, and here is the start of my January goals. My entire TBR collection and my goal is this year to get it much smaller and keep it smaller.
I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join in if you want!

Yep! She's become a new favorite. Maybe a bit predictable, but a page turner nonetheless.
⭐⭐⭐⭐/⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A novel of family secrets, creativity, identity, heartbreak, loss & hope, set on the idyllic Mediterranean island of Corsica. The setting both informs & forms the characters & their responses to the world.Corsica‘s wild beauty encompasses various terrains:mountains, cliffs, valleys, tidal pools, forests. The arts:painting, architecture, photography, music, drive the plot. While The novel might seem slow to some, for me the pace & lyrical writing are perfect.
Starting this today on a whim. #moodbook #porchlife #ocean
This book covers a lot: love, lost, grief, separation, family secrets, but the story is very slow, a little cliché and unconvincing. It's an OK book, but just OK.
This book definitely got better as I went, but it was slow to get started. I couldn‘t help thinking most people probably would have jumped ship. And it‘s probably not fair to compare & contrast, but this was much slower than The Guest List. After finishing that, I decided to look into Foley‘s other books.
This was in the free box so thought I had to rescue it. I found it hard to get into. Once I did I found the jumping from one time setting to another plus the different “ voices” sometimes hard to follow. It was an okay read. @MrsMalaprop
