It's set where I live which is awesome! Dark and gothic world building. Like the plot and mix of mystery + smuggling. Romance was good + mysterious, Lantern Man/ Jack was so swoon worthy. Ella was a good character, I related to her a lot. Liked the myth and historical aspects. The way Ella's alcoholic father was written was so sad and well written. I liked the ending and plot twists, though slightly predictable. Also liked how it's all wrapped up.

Just gone and bought this book, so excited to receive it, especially as it's set where I live, however it's based in the 1800s!

#AndItsAugust #hairthereandeverywhere. This was a tough prompt for me! Part of the reason I chose this book is because, with my curly hair, I used to long for the perfect straight hair on this cover. I came to love my curls, but you don't often see curls on historical fiction covers.

The only two autographed books I have I won in author giveaways. I'm a huge Huber fan, and I've participated in most of her online release parties. That's where I snagged both of these. I have to admit that I haven't read the other book yet, but I'd already read Secrets in the Mist on my Kindle when I won this copy. #readJanuary #signed

I was really curious about this book, since it's the first the author has written outside her Lady Darby series. Really enjoyed it. Excellent characters, a unique setting, and twisting plot made this a page turner.

After an early morning visit to the doctor and fasting blood work, a stop for a late breakfast, just me and my Kindle.

Release day for Huber's first book of her new series, and it was on my Kindle this morning. Only a chapter and a half in, and I'm really hooked. 😄
