1/5⭐ The men CONSTANTLY act to subvert Rowan's wishes, particularly as a mother. The moment I officially tapped out was when she caught her husband about to ship off their kids to ANOTHER PLANET without telling her! WTF!?!?!?! The romance between Damia and the guy who basically raised her does not sit well with me, especially with Afra gleefully telepathically putting Damia to sleep at will without her consent. So disgusted and disappointed.

page 123/336: “As the Rowan hadn't heard about Damia's adventure with her 'wand,' it hadn't occurred to her to alter the sensors to touch-control plates.“

Why hadn't the Rowan heard? Because all the men in her life colluded to specifically not tell her! To over and over again interfere with her desires as a mother! The warning bells in this book, oh my god. The high school nostalgia keeping me reading is running on empty.

Tadams4 I love this series! 5y

Another favourite from McCaffrey. Book two in The Tower And The Hive series, this follows the Rowans youngest daughter and her development as a Prime Talent and dealing with a hostile alien attack. But, as I said with The Rowan, it‘s more about the characters themselves which is a pleasure to read as she writes them so well. Multigenerational space saga. Highly recommend.⭐️ #HSreadathon

This is the 2nd book in The Tower And The Hive series by McCaffrey which is a multigenerational SciFi saga series. This book centres on The Rowans daughter, Damia(obviously)and her growing up in love with Afra, her mothers T4 Tower subordinate. I think Damia is my favourite out of the whole pride, she‘s sparky, sassy & independent and she knows what she wants & is determined to have it. #HSreadathon

I‘m so glad I decided to revisit the series; it‘s so fun. This is the story of Damia, Rowan‘s daughter, & Afra, Rowan‘s assistant & friend who is so much more to this story than hinted at in the first book. This story has so many great ups & downs that make me smile, laugh, & cry all in their turn. A tale of family, of finding maturity, & of love in many forms that has its own evolution. Looking forward to jumping into book 3.

Starting the 2nd book in the Tower & The Hive series whilst hibernating in my air conditioned bedroom, listening to Summer Acoustic playlist on Spotify & hiding from the ridiculous heat we are still suffering through. 42C again today & tomorrow's more of the same! Makes me wish we lived in space where it's always nice & cool 😎 Damia is the Rowans daughter, just as talented a Prime as her mother. When she falls in love with her mothers 2nd,💔ensue.
