4/5⭐ While the book wasn't completely free of misogyny or problematic aspects, those elements fortunately took a far back burner to actual plot, which I greatly enjoyed. Following four of Damia's children throughout space made things more interesting, and I thought the pacing of developments with the Hive studies moved well. Hopefully the rest of the series continues this way.

Bk3 in The Tower And The Hive series follows the third generation of Gwyn/Raven/Lyon Talents. Along with the alien Mrdini race, who have had their own battles with the deadly Hivers,a new fleet of naval spacers have found a dead Hiver ship. After retrieving it for study, an escape pod with a live Queen is found and brought back to Moon base to give both humans & Mrdini a chance for insights into the race. But not everyone is happy. #HSreadathon

Megabooks You are taking me right back to middle school! My best friend Robyn and I read this series and a couple of others. #nostalgia!! 5y
Lizpixie @Megabooks me too! I think I was 16 when I read my first McCaffrey. Loved the Pern series, the Crystal Singer trilogy and this one. I think the only series I haven‘t read is The Ship Who Sang which I‘ve been combing 2ndhand bookshops to find for years.🚀 5y

I do so enjoy this series...This book follows Damia & Afra‘s children as they start to take up their duties in an expanding universe as the Alliance starts hunting down the Hiver species to stop their extermination of all others. But the merging of war focused & peace focused societies is not without it‘s bumps & we get to watch as this family continues to lead & navigate that process along with the highs & lows of maturing & finding independence

#MonsterMadness2017 #day6 #TheBlob Today's characteristics are Hungry, All Consuming & Hates The Cold. This describes the "Hivers" in this series to a T. Hivers are an alien species that are insect like, they send out Queens on large ships with attendants, they then wipe out all life on a planet before landing & consuming everything. They hunger for more space, and the only thing that slows them is cold. Like insects they need warmth to survive.?

#riotgrams #day6 #currentread These are my current reads. I've just finished Damia by Anne McCaffrey and I'm marathoning the Tower and The Hive series, and when that gets boring, I'm sneaking in chapters of both Giant Days Vol2 & Lumberjanes Vol2. I have an overflow of riches with my tbr again, finding it hard to settle on just one book.

LibrarianRyan I love the lumber janes books. I've only read 3 and am waiting on #4 8y

#booktober #day20 #unforgettablewomen How can you forget The Rowan, her daughter Damia & her daughters? Such powerful psy women, saving the universe from alien invaders & generally causing havoc. The Rowan & Jeff, then Damia & Afra & their offspring, the Raven-Lyon clan work to keep their worlds safe from the Mrdini & form the network of teleportation that keeps their worlds going. With their attitudes & white streak of hair, they are unforgettable.
