Blackout | James Goodman

Review: Blackout by James Goodman, 2011, is a comic book style picture book about a city wide blackout that rings the whole city and family closer together. It uses minimal words but the pictures tell a story
Blurb: The set up of the story makes it very interesting and a fun read. Certain pages look like a comic book and there are a lot of speech bubbles from characters as well
Quote: “Everyone went back to normal...But not everyone likes normal.“

Blackout tonight in Puerto Rico after a substation fire took the power grid down. @WanderingBookaneer and I are safe and sound at home with the power generator, our 6 kitties, and an unlimited supply of reading material. Things are dark and quiet outside. (This is yesterday's #GetIndie #bookhaul 👍🏼)

Hornsby78 Hope y'all get power back soon. We were without it for 14 days after Hurricane Katrina here in Mississippi and that was TOO LONG. 8y
LeahBergen Glad you guys are all snug! 8y

BookishMarginalia @RanaElizabeth @Hornsby78 @LeahBergen @Theresa Power is supposed to be back within 24 hours. We shall see! We are lucky that for us it's not a hardship! Thanks for the good vibes! 8y
BookishMarginalia @Notafraidofwords Hope your family is okay too. Fingers crossed we get power back tomorrow. The darkness outside is eerie, though. And the quiet! 8y
Notafraidofwords @BookishMarginalia I can imagine how isolating it must feel and chaotic too at the same time. They're okay. They lose power all the time so they're used to it. But it's still scary. 8y
Hornsby78 That's what blew my mind...exactly how much noise electricity makes. When you don't have motors running everywhere, the silence in eerie. 8y
MrBook Oh, wow. Hopefully they turn it back on soon. 8y

I've had a moderate cold for about a week that has not stopped me from going to work, but has made me too exhausted after work to do anything other than come home and stare at the ceiling.

As such, I'm about 400 pages off my reading goals. Im@just starting the rectify that today by making a push to clear up my mostly-done pile.

StacksNShelves Sorry about the cold. Hope you feel better soon. 🤗 8y
TheNextBook I feel like crap too and I'm trying my hardest to keep pushing! Feel better soon! 8y
