pickFinished my book while the puppy napped. This was an enjoyable read featuring the first people to come across what is now the Bering Strait back at the end of the Ice Age. The characters aren‘t super developed but their relationships are quite dynamic and I really enjoyed the “politics” between tribes. Started sort of slowly but built to a dramatic end. This is the first in a very long series of standalones. Will probably work my way thru slowly.
I‘ve seen this book compared to Jean Auel‘s The Clan of the Cave Bear (one of my favorites) but since I‘m only one-third thru, I don‘t have any concrete opinions about that yet. Both are pre-history in terms of time period and both have the characters on a long journey. Otherwise the writing is very different and the characters are too. I‘m enjoying this read. #currentlyreading
When visiting New Orleans, I stopped by all the bookstores I saw while wandering the French Quarter—almost all of them were used bookstores. One of my favorites was the Librairie Book Shop, a cute little place on Chartres Street. I visited twice!
Used bookstores have a magical quality to them—a hint of mystery and excitement, because you‘re not quite sure what you‘ll find inside. And if I can find a stack of mass market fantasies? Even better.

pickFinally found time to finish this. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more in this "series" good quality writing, complex, compelling characters.

When I read the introduction I didn't think I was going to be able to make it through this book--there were A LOT of adjectives, so many that i was irritated rather than inspired. Luckily the story itself is not written that way and at about halfway, I'm really enjoying it. Which is good for me since I have almost 20 of these books waiting to be read
