I finished it mostly just to find out what happened in the end, not because I was invested in the story. It had quirky, fun potential but ended up being too all-over-the-place for me. Or maybe too off-kilter? Nice ending but strange journey.

I really waffled with this one. There are lots of things I loved about it. Most of the characters and storyline are charming and whimsical, and I love the importance placed on caring for the environment and animals. But many of the references in the book and some of the humor seemed much too dark for a children's book, so I'm left feeling kind of unsure about my thoughts!

2. It‘s my birthday on Friday! We‘ll go out to dinner, and my husband & I have plans to get pedicures. 💅
3. I started Disappearing Earth for #NewYearWhoDis today, & I‘m finishing up the audio of Small Fry (a memoir written by Steve Jobs‘ daughter).

#bodyofwater #maybookflowers This gem of a book has never disappointed- it is intriguing, engaging, humorous (sometimes just a tad darkly) and hosts a cast of characters of the epic variety. It's perfect for your 3rd-5th grade slightly reluctant reader because of the quick pace and (oops!) a few naughty words uttered by a real piece of work kid character. I love it.
