The Firebirds Tale
The Firebirds Tale | Anya Ow
1 post | 2 read | 4 to read
The Firebirds Tale begins with the end of a familiar story: a Prince who never smiled, and by Imperial decree, has to marry the one who managed to make him do so.
Except that it was all an accident, and the Prince would say he didnt actually smile at the thief who dared to rob a Tsar, and the thief was not even a womanor, as it turns out, even human.

I really enjoyed reading this tale of a Tsarevich & Firebird-in-human-male-form (for most of this story) forced into marriage by the Tsar's decree that anyone who could make the Tsarevich smile would marry him. The story is even more than that - it's war, magic, political intrigue & fairy tales upon fairy tales. There is romance in this book as well & one of my fave kinds - regular person & person who has lived a long time. #24in48 #queerreads

Lizpixie This sounds really interesting. Russian tales seem to be having a resurgence lately, bravo to it being a #queerbook as well!👏👏👏 8y
Yamich49 @Lizpixie So true. And there were many other tales mixed in the story too which was very cool and interesting. I love retellings, esp queer ones! 8y
