The Alchemist: A Graphic Novel
The Alchemist: A Graphic Novel | Paulo Coelho
7 posts | 8 read | 5 to read
Andalusian shepherd boy Santiago travels from his homeland in Spain to the Egyptian desert in search of a treasure buried in the Pyramids. Along the way he meets a Gypsy woman, a man who calls himself king, and an alchemist, all of whom point Santiago in the direction of his quest. No one knows what the treasure is, or if Santiago will be able to surmount the obstacles along the way. But what starts out as a journey to find worldly goods turns into a discovery of the treasure found within. Since its first printing The Alchemist has been translated into seventy-one languages and sold forty million copies worldwide, establishing itself as a modern classic that will enchant and inspire readers for generations to come. Beautifully rendered, The Alchemist: A Graphic Novel is a must have for any collector's library.

#WanderingJune Day 8: #GypsyRoad in The Alchemist. My favourite image in this graphic novel adaptation is the gypsy & the Christian elements that are interwoven along with the pagan quality of fortune-telling & palm-reading. Coelho‘s message of being true to one‘s self, being mindful of omens or signs, & allowing the universe to open pathways for the actualization of one‘s personal legend remains distinct here. Mehso-so

It was pretty good. Years ago I attempted reading the original novel but I couldn‘t get into it. So when I saw the graphic version at the library it seemed like a great way to get the gist of the story without forcing myself through the original. The story and concepts weren‘t anything new or revolutionary for me, it actually reminded me of a few other books especially The Celestine Prophesy.

Sumtime77 Haven't seen the graphic novel before but The Alchemist is my favorite book. 6y
KristinaRay @Sumtime77 I would definitely check this out. The author himself spoke highly of this adaptation. 6y
MinDea Do you pay for #Bookly Pro? 6y

KristinaRay @MinDea I do. I just did the free version for a bit, but I wanted all the features. They offer the whole year for $20 instead of $30 periodically. I normally don‘t subscribe to apps, but I really love thus one. 6y
MinDea I am on fence whether to pay for the app or not. I am not sure it is worth a paying for every year but I like the app! 6y
KristinaRay @MinDea I totally get it. I had buyers remorse immediately after I bought it. I was second guessing myself majorly at first, but now that I‘ve had it a while I think it‘s worth it! 6y
MinDea Buyers Remorse is the worst! I am worried I'll feel the same way. I'll keep going with the free one til I can't and then decide. Thank you! 6y
LitsyGetsGraphic Thanks for a review. It sets on my TBR for a while 6y

Interesting spin on the “everything happens in threes” idea.

KristinaRay @Quirkybookworm This is my first time reading it. It‘s not like anything I‘ve ever really read before. 6y
