Soul Eater Vol 1

2 ⭐I really wanted to like this book. And basically I did like the story line. However this is a graphic novel and the illustrations play a very large part of this story. The amount of gratuitous nudity, and the misogyny was disgusting. Most of the nudity was not needed. The one character grabbing the female characters breasts and complaining that they are not equal size (on two different sisters, not on one body) was horrid and uncalled for.

magyklyXdelish Aw I‘m sorry you hated it. My friend and I were big fans of the anime show. Not sure if there‘s a lot of differences or not. I also haven‘t watched it in eons so maybe a rewatch would change my opinion. 4y

LibrarianRyan @magyklyXdelish Maybe i should try the animae. Book 1 is mostly prologue giving you a look at each of the characters. And uh no. When it got into the 20 pages of actual story it didn't seem bad, but I will reserve judgement until after book 2. 3y

Kenyazero It's one of the reasons I (mostly) stopped reading shonen manga when I was a teenager. It's a bummer that's happening in this one too. It's such a popular title! 3y

I know a few people feel so-so about this one but the anime makes me laugh and I love everyone‘s personalities. The manga and anime aren‘t so very different (except the manga is far more NSFW) so there weren‘t any big surprises, but I definitely plan to read more. 😊

phantomx Soul Eater is a funny and action-packed series. I loved the background stories for each of the characters. Death the Kid cracks me up. 5y

AshleyHoss820 @phantomx I agree!! I crack up every time Death the Kid has a melt-down! I also like the balance of serious action and zany goofiness. One of my favorite anime and probably gonna to be one of my fave manga. 😊(Right now I‘m pretty obsessed with Bleach, but I also love Fruits Basket.) (edited) 5y
