No Place for a Nervous Lady
No Place for a Nervous Lady: Voices from the Australian Bush | Lucy Frost
1 post | 1 read
Women in the bush found time to write, in letters to friends and family far away, and in diaries to be kept for themselves. These writings provide a fascinating recreation of the past and a vital contribution to Australian social history.

Pickpick

The writings collected here are those of white immigrant women from England and Ireland who moved to Australia in search of better lives and promised easy money (which largely did not exist). Their journals and letters are an important bit of history to preserve and fascinating in some places while dull in others. A soft pick.

Megabooks I like your Flippy color. 👍🏻 Mine‘s navy. So great for reading! 3y
Hooked_on_books @Megabooks I rarely read without it! My mom picked the color and I think she did an awesome job. 3y
monalyisha Tell me more about this Flippy? I‘m intrigued. I see how it could be great for tablets/phones, etc — but tell me more about using it for print books & why you find it so helpful? 3y
Hooked_on_books @monalyisha It‘s a firm (foam core), triangular pillow with a ledge on each side and a slightly different angle to each, so you can rest your book on it while it‘s in your lap and read with much less wrist strain. It‘s especially helpful for big hardcovers, but useful with any book. I love it! 3y
