Saskatchewan for #ReadCanada and book 12 for #15books15weeks
Glad I've read this classic of #canlit now. It is very CanLit, so I'm not surprised I enjoyed it. Somehow I'd never read any W. O. Mitchell before, will definitely read more.

I love finding old bookmarks in old books! ...even when it's a vaguely sinister snake 😂
I‘ve been feeling extremely homesick today, so decided to read a Canadian classic. No one paints a better picture of life in the Great Plains than W.O. Mitchell, and this book is one that I have fond memories of. It‘s a piece of home ❤️ Pictured are Saskatchewan (Land of Living Skies) sunsets.
It was ok. Pretty slow-moving, as nothing big really happens. It was just things that happened in his life as he was growing up. I grew up in Southern Sask (though in the 70s and 80s!), but “recognized” some of the small town prairie happenings (i.e. (sadly) kids trying to get gopher tails; luckily, I never saw it, just heard about it). Overall, it was ok.

Doesn't get any more gold than the fields of gold of the prairies. Young is a Canadian Treasure who walk life to the beat of his heart and soul. I went from Gold to prairies in a heartbeat. This novel can't get more prairie gold.

Decided to sort through my books and see how much of #192019challenge I'll be able to do from tbr books. Not gonna lie, it's a lot. Also not gonna lie that spending the evening sorting through books is totally my idea of a great #Litsypartyofone
So...this happened near me. Is it bad that I want to go to the library and ask to see this classic in person? Overdue book returned 52 years later....what would you have done? Would you have kept it or return it?
This 1947 novel about small-town and rural life in my home province, Saskatchewan, Canada is a Canadian classic.
It was made into a movie in the 1970s and the French teacher from my hometown played one of the minor roles.

Always find it a bit amusing that these two books by two different Mitchells also have the word "wind" in their titles.
