“I just hope someone doesn't start the Cheese Touch up again, because I don't need that kind of stress in my life anymore.”
This was one of my favorite series as a kid and would definitely be a good book series to keep in a classroom library for 4th - 5th graders.
This is a funny and relatable story about a boy, Greg Heffley, navigating going into middle school. This book has engaging illustrations and funny diary entries that capture the challenges of friendship and family life. Younger children, especially middle school aged, will love reading this book and want to continue the series.
“I'll be famous one day, but for now, I'm stuck in middle school with a bunch of morons.“
In my classroom, this book can help students explore themes of friendship, social pressure, and personal growth, providing opportunities for discussions on empathy and decision-making.
This book was published in 2007 and is a middle school graphic novel. The book, which falls under the genre of realistic fiction, follows Greg Heffley as he navigates the trials and tribulations of middle school, including friendship struggles, bullies, and family dynamics. It's a relatable and funny take on growing up.
This is a great book in an iconic series that sets up the world of Greg Heffley
“The lesson I learned is that some people won‘t think twice about using you, especially when there‘s a country club involved.”
This is the 1st book in the iconic series Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney. This story follows Greg Heffley as he navigates through his early life in school and how he interacts with family and friends. Overall, I would recommend this book and series to get lost in Gregs world
“Middle school is like a jungle. You never know what‘s coming next!”
I will definitely have this in my classroom library, as it was one of my favorites growing up. This series is a great choice for kids because it‘s relatable and funny. It captures the awkwardness of middle school in a way that kids can connect with.
This book is about Greg‘s life as he navigates the challenges of growing up. From dealing with bullies to trying to fit in, Greg‘s relatable mishaps make for an entertaining read. Each book is filled with illustrations that bring his funny stories to life.
The revamping of my office/Library has been nostalgia to say the least. Pulling these off my shelf had me running down memory lane and feeling quite weepy as I reminisced about my baby boy shopping for books. The bookmark was the icing on the cake and I cannot wait for the time when that baby boy who is now 24 will shop for books with me again.
First, I know I‘m not the target audience. Second, I get it. Middle-schoolers and the personal fable (main character energy), people are flawed, etc. I absolutely see why kids would dig this series. I just really struggled with this. There were parts that were funny, but mostly I was like, “Wow. You‘re a real d-bag…” I won‘t dissuade anyone from liking/reading them, I just didn‘t connect with this.
It's Greg Heffley's first year of middle school, and he is stressing out. His older brother Rodrick warned Greg about middle school and gave tips on how to "survive" middle school. Greg thinks he's better than most people, but in reality, he isn't. Him and his best friend, Rowley, get into a fight after Greg gets Rowley in trouble and accidentally broke his arm. Greg has no choice but to hang out with the weird kid. *More in the comments*
My nieces are 8 & 10 and they're obsessed with reading, so I had to spoil them with books for Christmas. 🥰📚
it‘s not easy to write thank you notes for stuff he didn‘t want in the first place
this is a must read for everyone. There are an endless about of books in this series full of relatability and laughs
Funny, tongue-in-cheek, middle grade. The voice really comes through & I can definitely see why this has been a popular series. Greg is a great character & has the appropriate naivety of a middle schooler, so it was fun to read his (mis)adventures. As an adult, it's easy to see he isn't always the best at making smart decisions, though Kinney's witty writing may not always be picked up on by younger readers. Still, a great middle grade read.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
My son recommended that I start the series…so there I go. Greg Heffley is not my favorite character but I see why 8 yo get a kick out of him…I guess. 🤷🏻♀️
“I try to explain all of this popularity stuff to Rowley ( who is probably hovering the 150 mark by the way), but I think it just goes in one ear and out the other with him”.
The font and the illustrations make this a very entertaining and quick read. It has a lot of humor and funny elements added into the story.
When Greg Heffley begins middle school, he cares a lot about popularity and being “cool”. His older brother Roderick makes sure to give him a hard time and has not given Greg a great reputation to live up to at school. Greg and Rowley are childhood best friends, but they run into a conflict when popularity issues come into play. Greg loses sight of the value of his friendship with Rowley but they eventually sort things out.
A great book! Another series I want to have in my classroom! A silly and goofy book series that any kid can enjoy and love!
I‘ll be famous one day, but for now I‘m stuck in middle school with a bunch of morons.
I always love when Greg finds out about the cheese touch.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid is an excellent series of books as they follow the main character Greg and all the funny situations he finds himself in. For the first story Greg is trying to find popularity but continues to find himself in funny situations and tests his friendship with Rowley.
I always find the cheese touch to be a funny moment in the story.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a great series of books, but the first one is one of my absolute favorites. The books follows the main character Greg as he tries to find popularity but always seems to find himself in hilarious situations. The simple artistic style in the book is always very pleasing to follow as it adds context to the story.
“Like I said, I'll be famous one day, but for now I'm stuck in middle school with a bunch of morons.“
These books are made to represent Greg's journal and show us what happens in his everyday life...
The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series was written by Jeff Kinney. I absolutely loved these books as a kid. They were always fun and interesting. In addition, I really liked the text. It was easy for me to read. Furthermore, the illustrations in the books are very cool. They always went along with what was happening in the book. Overall, I really like these books.
I love Diary of a Wimpy Kid. The first book of this series was released when I was 5 years old and new books are still being written and released to this day. I have not read any past the 6th of 16 books so I am very excited to get to read newer editions at the same time as students.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a journal style story written in the perspective of Greg Heffley. The first book of this series takes place during Greg‘s last year of middle school. The series consists of 16 books that take us on many unexpected journey‘s and experiences with Greg.
Graphic Novel. FAV SERIES EVER
“ Want to come over to my house and playyyy?”
Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney was published in 2007, it is a series of graphic novels that tell the life story of Greg Heffley and his attempts to become popular. There are small illustrations through the book that bring the comedy to life.
the mood is light and optimistic. Tone depends on Gregory's mood. It can be arrogant, boastful, happy, frustrated, disappointed and so on.
This was really fun to read and I am going to continue this series. This made me to think my own school time and for me this felt really realistic - also by showing how children always find some way to do what they shouldn't. :D
