Rebecca is one of my favorite #kickassheroines (also, all these books are by Ellen Emerson White, but the first 2 stories involving Rebecca were written under a male pseudonym, because 1990s publishing sucked & Scholastic thought people wouldn't buy Vietnam War stories published under a female name--never mind that she had been successfully publishing for years. Thank God they let her publish The Road Home under her own name). #seasonsreadings2016

I'm a little behind on my #photoadaynov16 posts, so here are a few of my kids & YA books #publishedinthe1990s. Tagging the books in the comments, for anyone interested (plus see book this is filed under--my favorite & most re-read book from the 1990s).

For #photoadaynov16: #bookandbrew. One of my favorite books to read when I am stressed and, although I don't drink alcohol often, this is one of the few brews I will drink (because, c'mon, how can you beat a spiced red wine named Witches Brew?? 🍷)

britt_brooke Sounds tasty! #cheers 🍷 8y
GlitteryOtters @britt_brooke it really is! And it's from a local-ish vineyard that produces some of the best budget wines around here, which I seriously appreciate. This wine makes for realllly good poached pears, too. 😋 8y

Wow! I did not expect to love this as much as I did. A YA novel about a nurse in Vietnam split into two parts- during the war and after, I just finished it and want to start it all over again.

For today's #booktober, The Road Home by Ellen Emerson White has not only a great opening line, but an amazing first chapter. Here is a small snippet of it.

Today's #somethingforsept is "couldn't put it down." This book is one of my ultimate books I cannot put down...in fact, I love it so much that after I finally managed to lay my hands on a copy to own, I quickly sought out a second copy so I'd always have a loaner I could lend out without risking being without this book. It is the final--& best!--book in a series about young adults in Vietnam War mostly written under her pseudonym of Zack Emerson.
