Danny Dragonbreath can't breathe fire, but he has no fear. And that comes in handy when a bad grade at school inspires him to enlist his cousin the sea-serpent's help with a research project. Using a hybrid of comic-book panels and text, Ursula Vernon introduces an irresistible set of characters that will have readers laughing until smoke comes out of their noses!

My step kids and I tore through this book tonight and I‘m genuinely not sure which of us enjoyed it more. It‘s a wonderful middle grade book that all three of us loved.

Have you ever heard of a school for amphibians and reptiles? Check out “Dragonbreath“ by Ursula Vernon. This fun loving story about Danny a dragon who can‘t breathe fire and of course the school bully who is constantly reminding Danny of his flaws. This story is fun, entertaining, and truly delightful must read MF. This is a wonderful series to use for an AS in the class.

URL 5.2 Use multiple tools for construction and composition. ESOLE strategy 15 reinforce the key ideas you present again and again. This series is great for struggling readers because they can easily relate to the fun loving characters.

JessicaO MF is my favorite genre and that can be seen in my litsy posts! I will be adding this to my collection. Your description was great and has left me wanting to reading it. Reinforcing key ideas is a great idea for this book because students can learn so much from this book and its message. 4y
DrSpalding I have not heard of this series! Thank you for posting on this book. Your resource would help you complete the author study and possibly get your students into reading the series. Concise yet in-depth knowledge shown in your post. Nice universal design and English learner alignment as well. 4y

My 8 yr old son along w/many others his age enjoy reading graphic novels. This humorous F, Graphic Novel is about a dragon named Danny who cannot breathe fire and sets off to the ocean to complete a school assignment. This is a great IR. Penguin.com offers a great resource for discussion questions. I would use UDL ( 3.3 ) guide information processing and visualization. The ESOL strategy would be #6 cont. monitor comprehension. #UCFLE3414SP20

DrSpalding I think independent reading and graphic novels go hand-in-hand. Of course you could use one as a literature circle option so that students can discuss what they are reading/seeing. I agree that they are very popular amongst intermediate elementary students 5y

Mr Dragonbreath, who had been happily married to Danny‘s mother for a number of years, carefully poured her another cup of coffee. He did not say anything more about the most important meal of the day.
