I wasn't sure I would enjoy this book but ended up loving it. It is truly a fairy tale for adults.

Checking out this departure from his usual style. Anyone read this? Thoughts without spoilers?
Some books break your heart and stay with you forever. If you're looking for a book to read for Black History Month.... this should be it.
I know we're not supposed judge a book by its cover, but this is just too beautiful to resist!
Since I promised to read more classics this year. . .
This paragraph encapsulates the reason I love Stephen King so much. The way he subtly weaves characters and places from his other books into completely unrelated stories so seamlessly is nothing short of genius!
I enjoyed this book. Several times throughout it I was ugly crying, especially at the end. The only problem I had with it was that I felt as if it was a knock off of Beaches. Nevertheless, it was a touching story. Some have criticized the characters as two dimensional, but I disagree. I think their flaws and weaknesses made them relatable.
I wanted to love this book. I really really wanted to. While I recognize Gaiman is a great writer, and this was generally a well written story, I just wasn't able to care about these characters or this story. I may give another one of his books a try eventually. But this one just didn't do it for me.
The genius of horror is back and as strong as ever! While this book was more disturbing than scary, I enjoyed the usual King markers such as the well developed characters and the occasional veiled reference to his other stories. I enjoyed this read and would definitely recommend it.
