FINISHED: 01.08.2020, switched between eAudiobook and eBook. For non-science folks, this wasn‘t as readable as I had hoped. I chose this for the #MinneapolisCentralBookClub. We‘re meeting tonight and I‘m hoping enough of us finished it or read some of it to have a discussion. I like the historical look back at species already extinct to put in context why what humans are doing is so important to pay attention to and change.

One of my favorite authors at #NerdConStories. His perspectives are thoughtful and ever changing.

A baby is snatched from her crib while her parents are out for the evening. From the start readers know who is behind the kidnapping, but in the end there were still unanswered questions for me... I wanted to love it because of the local details; I still may try the next in the series. This is the 1st in a planned series, Afton Tangler Thrillers.

Finished this earlier this month... The audiobook was superb! I loved listening to the historic journey to the Olympics of the 1936 American rowing team. Even though readers know they know the what happens in the end the author and narrator build a sense of suspense. I couldn't put it down!

Listening to this has been a challenge... Tartt narrates it herself. Author narration can be wonderful or terrible. I'm not a fan of Tartt's narration, not quite terrible, but definitely not wonderful. The story is interesting and compelling. I'm reading this for #bookclub, so I must #keepgoing!

Pretty excited about this book and the fact that I got a signed copy after she did a reading and q&a!

I mostly listened to TO THE HILT, but with a perfect afternoon outside and an eBook version from the library, some time in the hammock was required.

I had avoided Francis because I'm not excited about horses... this one had the perfect mix of interesting characters, mystery and horses of course.

I know it's fiction, but to this librarian it's troubling... "He examined so many topographical and geological maps of the city that the librarian informed him, in hushed voice, that he had been added to the FBI watch list."

I've been in a reading funk for the last couple of months... I haven't finished many books and when I have I haven't really liked them. I loved this book! The perfect mix of history and character development.

I cannot reconcile the savagery of the blows with the mellifluous way she keens or the beauty of the roses coiling along the trellis of her spine.
