I, Phoolan Devi: The Autobiography of India's Bandit Queen | Phoolan Devi, Marie-Thrse Cuny, Paul Rambali

“Before I was married...I looked forward to being able to wear bells around my ankles and silver necklaces around my neck, but not any more, not since I had learned what they represented for the man who gave them. A necklace was no prettier than a piece of of rope that ties a goat to a tree, depriving it of freedom.”
― Phoolan Devi, The Bandit Queen Of India

“None of the other shopkeepers near the railway station would hire a Muslim, but Ramanna Shetty, who ran the Ideal Store, a tea-and-samosa place, had told Ziauddin it was okay for him to stay. Provided he work hard. And keep away from all hanky panky.“

The Dwarf | Par Lagerkvist
Pickpick

There are only a small handful of books that I consider masterpieces. “The Dwarf“ by Pars Lagerkvist is one of them. The book, written in the format of a diary, is short, easy to read, and complete. Even several weeks after finishing it, I keep thinking about the title character.
