Honestly, based on the cover I expected this book to be a trashy, 50 shades of grey type deal. Which don't get me wrong, definitely have their time and place. But I was pleasantly surprised by its substance. Good character development, decent plot, and likable characters with flaws. The only reason so-so is due to it's rather flat read of an ending. Everything was all nice and tied up at the end, a little too well. A cliff would have fit better.

Full of powerful human insight and descriptive wilderness scenes without being hoitytoity, I fully recommend this book for those who want to delve into darkness, the wild, and simplicity.
