Oh! This book! This series! My heart! I will be (and have been) recommending this trilogy to everyone I meet forever. This ending was gorgeous, and came so incredibly full circle. It was Satisfying in the way only perfect books are. I'm not only going to reread these, I'm going to be first in line for the fancy anniversary box set when it comes out someday. This is a level of book love I rarely achieve.

This series is some of the best sci-fi/fantasy I've read in ages. And it's very, very good at breaking my heart over and over.

This trilogy!!!

These books were like cooking. Son of a Trickster: gather your ingredients. Chop, prep, sneak some bites. Throw em into a pot and turn on the heat.

Trickster Drift: did I mention this is an instant pot recipe? We know things are cooking. We know it's gonna be good. Also there are ghosts in your food. Timer beeped hit that pressure release valve OH CRAP

Return of the Trickster: Eat a very disturbing, hilarious, delightful feast.

"It's okay!" Wee'git said. "It's just a transdimensional being that's gotten stuck in the liminal space between our universe and his. Hers. Theirs. I'm not really an expert on octopus genders."

Honestly cannot remember the last time I loved a book this much.

Holy SHIT I love these books. I hope Eden Robinson keeps writing the Trickster series forever. She is a gift.

A nakedly allegorical story about the evils of factory farming and destruction of the natural world. Unapologetically graphic and disturbing, because, that's the point. I liked the book, though I wouldn't blanket recommend it due to the content.

"Happiness held no nuance or compromise, did not allow for examination, did not allow the hopeful, hungry will that fills the vacuum of failure and what might've-beens, nor did it allow for the sweetness of surprise. Happiness was as rigid in its demands to adherence as a calendar shouting about compulsory date nights. Happiness was for dogs, lovely creatures though they were."

Michael_Gee Yes! I just read this line and opened Litsy to see if anyone else posted it. 4y

Dune | Frank Herbert

I started this because I have been meaning to read it for years and because I needed a book I can read at bedtime after the pandemic apocalypse horror fiction I have on the go turned out to be a bad choice for that particular time of day.

I'm happy to report I got 3 pages in and fell asleep. This is not a commentary on the book.

I'm a few chapters in. I keep asking myself "Why? Why am I doing this to myself?" But I cannot stop reading because this book is GOOD and it grabbed me right from page 1. I do need to stop reading it at bedtime though.
