This is a thorough look at the Chernobyl accident and its aftermath. The human, political, and environmental effects were far-reaching and world-changing. It does give technical descriptions of radioactivity and the reactor itself. I am a chemist so I enjoyed the detail, but you could skim those sections if you wanted and still find this a great read.

This book is an unsettling reminder of the need to improve the lives of women around the world. The chapter on child brides was particularly difficult to read. I recommend because it is so easy to forget or ignore these truths while living with the freedoms I enjoy.

A great overview about how our government is designed and some of its critical functions. Also a cautionary tale, ignoring these aspects of our bureaucracy could have unintended and dire consequences.

I loved the beginning of this book and the ecological message. I didn't love the ending and I thought the plot was muddy through the last third. Some beautiful sections, especially the descriptions of trees and forests.

This book is very unsettling and had me checking my doors and windows before going to bed. BUT I enjoyed the mix of mystery and memoir. I really wanted her to solve the puzzle and catch the guy! The Golden State Killer crimes were numerous and chilling. I am glad they (finally) caught him (probably).

Good spin on a story from Greek mythology! I enjoyed it while traveling!
