I really liked this story about two girls growing up in Naples.
That cover though🙄

BarbaraBB You should have read it in Dutch 😉. That cover is much better! 6y
KaatjeH @BarbaraBB you would have to try very hard to make it worse 😜 6y

Our little boy will become a big brother in July.
Picking his name was easy (we had both a boy name and a girl name ready even before getting pregnant 😊), but for number 2 we have no idea...🤷‍♀️

Hopefully this book, a dictionary with names, will give us some ideas.

LiteraryinPA Congratulations! I‘m sure you‘ll find a perfect name. 💜 6y
BarbaraBB Congratulations! If it‘ll be a girl you have a name, I think? 6y
saresmoore Congratulations! 6y

KaatjeH @LiteraryinLititz Thank you! I've got 400+ pages of inspiration. We should be able to find a name we like 6y
KaatjeH @BarbaraBB Thanks. With the first one (as with the second) we didn't want to know if it was a boy or a girl. It feels a bit strange to 'recycle' our boys girls name... 6y
KaatjeH @saresmoore Thank you! 6y
BarbaraBB I see what you mean! Then just call her Robin if it‘s a girl - like my daughter 😀 6y
KaatjeH @BarbaraBB Robin goes on the list (and the list is getting longer and longer... Starting to wonder if this book was a good idea 🤔😂) 6y
BarbaraBB @KaatjeH 😂😂 So many choices! When are you due? 6y
KaatjeH @BarbaraBB July. So we still have some time for creating a longlist and a shortlist before we have to announce our winner (or winners, since we have to find a first and middle name🤦‍♀️) 6y

It's one of those sundays, it's cold outside and it's raining. So I could think of nothing better to do than finishing Dostoyevski 😊
This was my second time reading Crime and Punishment, the first time reading it in an English translation. The strange thing is, these Russian stories make more sense (to me) in English, than in my own language🤷‍♀️

2018 is nearly at an end, the Top2000 is playing on the radio so it's time for my december tradition: reading a Russian Classic between Christmas and the New Year.
Usually I read War and Peace, but this year I'm rereading Crime and Punishment. And Yes, I know I'm never finishing this one before 2019 (but I'm fine with that 🤷‍♀️😉)

It's been a while since my last post on Litsy... things have been a bit hectic in our family. Good things, bad things, you know; life. One of the good things is in this picture, sleeping after playing in the snow for the first time❄️

I'm still reading though😊

This book, I don't know. I'm liking it, but I'm not sure what is going on🤷‍♀️

BarbaraBB Good to see you back here. Hope things are going well now for you. I am looking forward to that book! 6y
KaatjeH @BarbaraBB thanks😊it's good to be back. Things are calmer now (in a good way). The book is definitely different 6y

Before starting this book I was a bit afraid. To me the name Steinbeck was a bit worrying. Now I don't understand why I didn't pick this up sooner.
I loved the writing, I loved the story, the characters, the period....

Stephen King is up next this sunny day ☀️

I'm hoping this book will not keep me awake at night

This is a story about the American Civil War, but it's different from others I've read. This book does not focus on the politics, the events leading up to this war, it focusses on the militairy leaders of both North and South. This story portrays them as men with 'normal' emotions.
I really liked this book and will certainly be reading the other two books in this trilogy

Kaye Yes, it does. I remember where I was when I finally finished it. We were camping. I can remember commenting to my husband on how long it took me. It‘s a bit dry and much different than today‘s books. Lots of detailed descriptions. I wanted to stick with it since I knew it was based on a true story. I glad you enjoyed it. 👍🏼 7y

Kaye A very good book but it literally took me forever to read. Very small print, lots of pages. I wouldn‘t call it action-packed but it hinges on one event and the reactions to that event. 7y

In this book there are three stories 'about' Thalia (a town that actually does exist according to Google) set in different times, with different characters. Even though there is a lot of sadness in the stories, I really enjoyed this book. Leaving Cheyenne, the second story, probably was my favourite out of all three.
