Finally reading this. I‘ve been studying Sanskrit for decades but never got a good grasp of the conventions of Sanskrit commentaries. This book is the text on commentaries.

Loving this book but wonder how difficult it must be for people who don‘t know at least a little Hindī. Some pages are packed with Hindī vocabulary.
Been a while since I read Rushdie. Forgot how good he is. Such a story teller. I can hear his voice.
Persian Letters, by Mehrdad Rafiee. An interesting and very personal insight into life in Iran written in the form of a series of letters to his sons. Written by an old friend of mine who lived through the revolution. Mehrdad now lives in Australia.
Coffee, camera, film, and Umberto Eco. In 2006 I moved from Korea to Australia. I gave away my copy of this book, unfinished. Two years ago my young cousin, Elizabeth, died of bowel cancer. Last week her mother delivered this book to me. It had been Elizabeth‘s. Now I read it again, with feeling. Liz loved her books. I only wish she‘d written in it. Her name at least. She was a librarian and averse to marking books. I scrawl all over mine!
Loving this from the first paragraph. A murder mystery full of sex and intrigue about a Sanskrit professor!
Thoroughly fascinating book following the life of photographer Muybridge set against the explosion of new technology of the late 19th century. Rather flowery writing style detracts sometimes but I'd still read it again.
