I wanted to love this series so much but sadly that didn't happen. I struggled through most of this and it's my least favourite read this year. Book 1 I struggled to connect with Alina as her personality shifted with each chapter. Book 2 got better but I just couldn't see the Darkling as evil, he was too nice for the main baddy. Book 3 was good but I found the ending a tad lack lustre. Do I now go onto read Six of Crows after this disappointment?

This book played on my love for writing and my love for fantasy/magic. The mix of contemporary and fantasy work so well together. Rowell also really opened my eyes to the wonders of contemporary fiction.

This series introduced me to the wonders of Marie Lu. There's so much action and the switch between characters with each chapter is so seamless. (Tam loved it too!)
